Ford F-150 6R80 Transmission Oil Cooler FL3Z-7A095-B

This is the AISIN aftermarket OICFD-00005 transmission oil cooler, which replaces Ford part FL3Z-7A095-B. It fits the 2015-2017 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8. On 2017 trucks it fits only the version with the 6-speed (6R80) automatic, not the 10-speed.

What it is: a water-cooled, two-row aluminum plate cooler. Engine coolant flows through one side and ATF through the other, so the fluid warms up quickly on a cold start and sheds heat once the truck is working. Inlet and outlet are 14 mm with threaded attachments, and the gasket and sealing rings come in the box.

Why these get replaced: the two common failures are external seepage at the cooler seals and an internal crack that lets coolant and ATF cross over. Watch for ATF or coolant wetness around the cooler, a coolant level that keeps dropping, or pink, milky fluid on the transmission dipstick or in the pan. Coolant in the ATF attacks clutch friction material and the 6R80 will start to slip or shudder, so a cross-contaminated cooler needs to come off right away.

On install: drain the coolant below the cooler, disconnect the coolant hoses and ATF fittings, and remove the old unit. Clean the mounting face, fit the new seals, and torque the fasteners evenly. Refill and bleed the cooling system, then check the 6R80 fluid level hot on level ground using Ford's check-plug procedure. If coolant got into the ATF, flush the transmission and look at the fluid again before the truck goes back to work.
