JF015E CVT Planetary Set and Drum for Nissan Versa

This is the planetary carrier assembly and drum that lives behind the primary pulley in a JATCO JF015E (Nissan RE0F11A) CVT. It is the reduction gearset the belt-and-pulley section feeds into, and it is what carries torque out to the final drive. When the needle bearings in the carrier break down, you get a whine that rises with vehicle speed but ignores engine RPM, and metal in the pan.

Fitment covers Nissan Versa 1.6L 2009-2019 and Nissan Sentra 1.8L 2013-2019 running the JF015E / RE0F11A unit. The set ships as the carrier assembly together with the drum, so you are replacing the whole rotating group rather than trying to press individual pinions back into a carrier that is already egg-shaped.

On the bench, pull the CVT side cover and the chain, get the pulleys out, then lift the reduction assembly free. Inspect the carrier pinions for flat spots and the drum splines for twist before you reuse anything else. Replace the case-half gasket and the pan filter while the unit is open, and set the belt tension per the JF015E procedure on reassembly. Note that a whining JF015E almost always took the valve body and the pressure sensor with it, so check those before you close the case.
