Chrysler 904 Lokar Hi-Tech Kickdown Cable Kit KD-2904HT

The Lokar KD-2904HT is a cable-operated kickdown for the Chrysler A904 three-speed TorqueFlite. It replaces the factory rod-and-bellcrank kickdown linkage, which rarely clears an aftermarket intake, a tunnel ram, a blower manifold, or an engine that has been swapped into a different chassis. The cable runs from the carburetor or throttle body linkage straight to the kickdown lever on the side of the transmission case.

The housing is braided stainless over a purpose-extruded liner, not brake hose, so the inner cable keeps sliding smoothly over years of heat cycles. The ends use aluminum fittings with a ferrule, which keeps the cable from fraying where it clamps. It is a U-Cut-to-Fit design: route the cable, trim it to length, and terminate it with the supplied hardware. Lokar's stainless carburetor bracket and return springs mount it cleanly but are sold separately.

Why it matters on a 904: the kickdown lever controls the throttle pressure, so it sets both shift points and line pressure. Linkage that is disconnected, sloppy, or adjusted short makes the transmission shift early and soft, which slips and burns the front and rear clutches. After installing, set the adjustment so the lever reaches wide open at full throttle with no preload at idle, then road test for crisp shifts and a proper part-throttle downshift.
