Solenoid-controlled quick spool valve for the GM Turbo 400 that helps a turbo engine build boost at the line on a brake launch. Replaces PCE676.1005.
A bolt-on quick spool valve system for the GM Turbo 400 (TH400) 3-speed automatic, the same layout sold under part number PCE676.1005. It is built for turbocharged drag and street/strip cars that launch off a footbrake or transbrake and need the engine to make boost before the car leaves.
The kit is a machined aluminum valve body with a mounting bracket, a high-flow electric solenoid, a stainless braided hose with a tee fitting, and three threaded adapter fittings for plumbing it into the transmission. The solenoid is switched from your own circuit: a push button, a delay box or timer, or a digital output from an ECU or launch controller, and it is typically tied into the brake circuit so the system is only live while you are holding the car on the brake.
On the line, the valve lets the engine load harder against the transmission so the turbo lights sooner and boost comes up before launch. When the brake is released the solenoid drops out and the transmission goes back to normal operation, so the valve is not active going down the track or on the street.
This fits the TH400 only. It does not fit the Powerglide, 4L80E or other GM automatics. Plan the wiring before install: run a fused, switched 12V feed to the solenoid through your activation switch, and check every fitting for leaks with the engine running before the first pass.
