The TH400 Valve Body 1965-1990 551909 OEM is a direct-fit replacement valve body for the TH400, covering 1965-1990 applications.
On the TH400, the valve body meters line pressure and routes it through the pressure regulator, boost, actuator-feed-limit and TCC-apply circuits plus the 1-2 and 2-3 shift valves. As those bores wear, line pressure drops and apply timing goes soft, which shows up as 1-2 shift flare, TCC shudder, slipping under load, burnt clutches, or no 3rd and 4th gear.
It is remanufactured with the updated valves that restore the worn bores and hold correct pressure, then bench-verified, so the clutches you are installing behind it are protected instead of cooked by low pressure.
