Frictions, steels, gaskets, seals and a bonded piston set to fully overhaul the Toyota U240E/U241E transaxle in 2.4L Camry, RAV4 and Highlander.
Master overhaul kit for the Toyota/Aisin U240E and U241E four-speed automatic transaxle that also includes a set of rubber-bonded clutch pistons. Most master kits stop at frictions, steels and soft parts, which leaves you reusing the original pistons with hardened, flattened lip seals. On a high-mileage U240E those tired piston seals are often the real reason a clutch pack slips even after new frictions go in, so having the pistons in the same box closes that gap.
Fits the U240E (front-wheel drive) and U241E (all-wheel drive) behind the 2.4L four-cylinder: Toyota Camry and Camry Solara 2.4L, RAV4 2.4L 2000-2014, Highlander 2.4L 2001-2007, Scion tC 2005-2010 and Scion xB 2008-2014. Check the U240E or U241E tag on the case before ordering. V6 cars in the same model lines use a different transmission and are not covered.
Bench sequence: tear down, clean the case and drums, and check the pump and valve body for wear. Swap the old pistons for the bonded units, soak the new frictions in fresh Toyota WS fluid, then build the packs with the new steels and set clearances to spec. Finish with the new gaskets, lip seals and sealing rings to stop the cross-leaks and pressure loss behind a flared 2-3 shift, delayed engagement into drive or reverse, and slipping under load.
