Complete ZF 6HP21 valve body with solenoids for BMW E60 523i 528i and E66 735, covering OE castings A065 and B065 and the 6HP21X all-wheel-drive unit.
A complete valve body assembly with solenoids for the ZF 6HP21 six-speed automatic, covering OE numbers 6HP21, 6HP28, A065 and B065. It also serves the 6HP21X all-wheel-drive variant. Typical applications are the BMW E60 523i and 528i and the E66 735, along with other ZF 6HP-series rear- and all-wheel-drive cars that carry the same mechatronic casting.
The 6HP family is known for valve body wear long before the clutches are finished. Worn bores and tired solenoids show up as a delayed or flared 2-3 shift, a harsh downshift coming to a stop, torque converter clutch shudder at light throttle in sixth, limp mode, and transmission fault codes that keep returning after a fluid and filter service. Once the bores are worn, line pressure control is gone and replacing the valve body as a unit is the repair that lasts.
The assembly is cast alloy with the solenoids already fitted, so it goes in as one piece. Work is done from underneath with the pan dropped and the filter out. Budget for a full fluid refill and a proper level set at operating temperature per ZF procedure, and clear adaptations with a scan tool once the car is back together so the TCU relearns shift pressures.
Before ordering, confirm your transmission model number and the part number stamped on the original valve body. The 6HP21, 6HP26 and 6HP28 castings differ, and the wrong casting will not control the same circuits.
