ZF 6HP26 Transmission Oil Pan Filter & Gasket Kit BMW

This is the service pan kit for the ZF 6HP26 six-speed automatic, the sealed-for-life box behind a lot of BMW and Jaguar/Land Rover complaints. On these units the filter is built into the pan, so a fluid and filter service means dropping the whole pan and bolting a new one back up. This kit gives you the pan with the filter already installed, a fresh molded gasket, and 21 replacement bolts, which is everything the job actually needs.

It covers a wide spread of chassis: BMW E60/E61 (525d-550i), E63/E64 6-series, E65/E66 745i/750i/760i, E70 X5 and E71 X6, and E90/E91/E92/E93 diesels, plus the Jaguar and Land Rover applications that share the ZF 6HP26/6HP28/6HP32. It replaces OE part numbers 24152333903, 24117571227, 24117522923, 24117519359, 24117571204 and LR007474. Check the number stamped on your old pan before ordering, since ZF ran 6HP19 and 6HP26 pans that look close but do not interchange.

Most people come to this pan because of a leak at the pan rail or a whine and flare on the 2-3 shift once the fluid is contaminated and the filter is clogging. The molded gasket seals better than reused RTV, and the supplied bolts have larger heads than the factory torx that love to strip when you pull an old pan. Warm the transmission, pull the old pan and let it drain, clean the case rail, then set the new pan and gasket and torque the bolts in a cross pattern before filling and setting the fluid level at the correct temperature.
