ZF6HP26 Transmission Master Rebuild Kit with Clutches

Full overhaul kit for the ZF 6HP26 six-speed rear-wheel-drive automatic, listed by ZF under reference 1068298051 and sold in the aftermarket as T18302A. It carries the complete rubber and friction package for a bench rebuild: pan gasket, case and pump o-rings, sealing rings, piston lip seals, the small miscellaneous rubber parts that get destroyed on teardown, and a new set of friction clutch plates.

Fitment covers the 6HP26, 6HP26A and 6HP28 boxes. In service that is BMW E60 550i, E65/E66 750i and E70/E71 X5 and X6, Jaguar S-Type, XJ and XK, and Land Rover Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport, roughly 2002 through 2011. Confirm the ZF tag on the case before ordering parts, because a 6HP19 or 6HP21 uses a different clutch stack and the seals are not interchangeable.

These units come apart because the frictions glaze and the elastomer seals harden. Symptoms are a flare between 2nd and 3rd, a slip under throttle that clears when the fluid is cold, or a shudder on lockup. Once the unit is split, work drum by drum: pull the old frictions and steels, soak the new frictions in ATF, replace every lip seal and sealing ring in that drum, and set clearance with the selective before moving to the next one. Replace the mechatronic sleeve and adapter separately if the unit was leaking at the connector, since that part is not in this kit.

Sold as a kit only. It does not include the mechatronic unit, valve body, torque converter, filter or hard parts.
