10R80 Aluminum Transmission Oil Pan Kit with Filter

This is a cast aluminum replacement pan for the Ford 10R80 ten-speed automatic, sold as part 265-897 and listed to replace factory pan numbers HL3Z-7A194-A, HL3Z-7A194-B, HL3Z-7A194-C, LP5Z-7A194-A, LP5Z-7A194-B, 328053100, 328053110, 328053120, 328053200, 328053210, 328053220, 328053600 and 328053610. It fits 2017-2025 F-150 (2.7L, 3.0L, 3.3L, 3.5L, 5.0L), 2018-2025 Expedition 3.5L, 2018-2025 Mustang 2.3L and 5.0L, 2019-2025 Ranger, 2020-2025 Explorer and 2021-2025 Bronco. It does not fit the F-150 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid, which uses a different case and pan.

The factory 10R80 pan is stamped steel with the filter sealed in from the top and no drain plug, so every fluid service on these trucks means dropping the whole pan and dealing with whatever runs down your arm. This pan ships with a new filter, a new gasket and a magnetic drain plug, so the next service is a plug, a fill and a level check instead of a teardown. The magnet catches the fine clutch material and bearing wear that the 10R80 makes in normal service, which is worth reading before it ends up parked in a solenoid screen.

Installing it is a normal pan job. Support the truck, pull the pan bolts, break the old gasket loose and drop the pan without twisting the case sealing surface. Pull the old filter, clean the mating face with a plastic scraper only, then seat the new filter and hang the new pan with the supplied gasket. Start every bolt by hand so the gasket is not pinched, then torque in a crisscross pattern to the Ford spec for the 10R80 pan. Fill with Mercon ULV only. Nothing else belongs in a 10R80 - the shift quality and the torque converter clutch are tuned around that fluid. Set the level with the transmission at the Ford check temperature using the fill plug procedure, not by counting quarts, because a deeper aluminum pan holds more than the stock sump.

The aluminum body also sheds heat faster than the stamped pan. That matters on a truck that tows, where sustained fluid temperature is what cooks the clutch packs and drives the shudder complaints these ten-speeds get known for.
