Ford 10R80 10-Speed Transmission Filter and Gasket Kit

The 10R80 is the 10-speed automatic Ford dropped into nearly everything from 2017 on, and it is picky about clean fluid. That internal filter is what keeps clutch debris and wear metal out of the valve body and the solenoids, and once it loads up you feel it as harsh 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, flare, or a truck that hunts between gears at cruise. Any time you drain and refill this transmission, the filter should come out with the pan. This kit gives you the direct-fit filter and a pan gasket so you do the job right instead of reusing a clogged element.

It fits the 10R80 in the Ford F-150 (2017-2023), Mustang (2018-2023), Expedition (2018-2024), Explorer (2020-2023), Ranger (2019-2023) and Transit 150/250/350, plus the Lincoln Navigator (2018-2023) and Aviator (2020-2023). It replaces Ford part numbers FT202, HL3Z7A098A, HL3P7G186CA and L1MZ7A098A along with the related HL3P and L1MP casting numbers, so it seats and seals like the factory piece. Note the 10R80 uses a plastic factory pan with no drain plug, so a filter-and-fluid service means dropping the pan - which is exactly when you want a fresh filter in your hand.

A common shop practice on this unit is to reuse the original bonded metal pan gasket if it is in good shape; the included rubber gasket is there as a spare. Plan on roughly 7 quarts coming out on a drain-and-fill, and use a Mercon ULV-spec fluid on refill. Service the filter every fluid change and any time you are chasing a shift complaint on a high-mileage 10-speed.
