10R80 Transmission Friction Clutch Module Kit, 35955KIT

This is the complete BorgWarner friction module for the Ford 10R80 and GM 10L80 ten-speed automatic, sold as one boxed set under part number 35955KIT. It contains every friction plate the unit uses across all six clutch packs (A, B, C, D, E and F), so you are not sorting loose plates by pack or guessing at plate counts partway through the build. These are the same friction elements BorgWarner supplies to the OE line, not a generic re-line.

Fitment is 2017 and up Ford 10R80 and 10R100 and GM 10L80 and 10L90 units. That covers 2017-2022 F-150, 2018-2022 Mustang, Expedition and Navigator, 2019-2022 Ranger, 2021-2022 Bronco, and the GM trucks and SUVs running the 10L80 behind the 5.3L and 6.2L. On the bench, this is what you reach for after a 10R80 comes in with harsh 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, shudder on the torque converter apply, or a burnt smell on the pan magnet. The 10-speed runs its clutches tight and the early F-150 units in particular cook the D and E pack frictions when the fluid gets heat-soaked. Soak the new plates in Mercon ULV for at least 30 minutes before assembly and set each pack clearance to spec with a dial indicator - the 10R80 is unforgiving on stacked clutch clearance and a pack that reads out of range will show up as a shift-quality complaint on the first road test.

Steels, seals and the filter are not included in this kit. If the unit was run hot enough to discolor the steels, replace them along with the frictions rather than reusing the originals.
