Three-piece nylon compressor set that squeezes the 10R80 clutch piston return springs flat under a press so the snap ring drops into its groove.
Rebuilding a Ford 10R80 or GM 10L80 means pulling and reseating a stack of clutch drums, and every one of them has a piston return spring assembly holding the snap ring under load. Freehanding that job is how techs launch snap rings across the shop and nick the drum bore. This three-piece set gives you a flat, full-face adapter for each drum so a foot press or a shop hydraulic press pushes the spring pack down square instead of cocking it to one side.
The bodies are machined from high-strength nylon with a rubber contact face. That matters on these units because the pistons and drums are aluminum and the bonded seal lips sit right at the edge of the compression surface. Nylon takes the press load without galling the drum and without cutting the seal, which is the usual cause of a rebuilt 10R80 that comes back with a slipping clutch pack and low apply pressure.
Fits Ford 10R80 in F-150 2017-2023, Mustang 2018-2021, Expedition 2018-2021, Ranger 2019-2021 and Explorer 2020-2021, plus the GM 10L80 that shares the same architecture. Use it on the bench with the drum supported and the press ram centered; compress just far enough to clear the snap ring groove, seat or remove the ring, then release slowly. Kit weighs 1.67 lb and stores flat.
