10R80 Sonnax Zip Kit for Ford Gen 1 Valve Body

This is the Sonnax Zip Kit, part number 10L80-G1-10R80-ZIP, for the ten-speed valve body Ford and GM co-developed. It covers the Ford 10R60, 10R80 and 10R90 and the Generation 1 GM 10L60, 10L80 and 10L90 — the units under F-150s, Mustangs, Expeditions, Silverados and Camaros. Check the generation before you order: this kit is for Gen 1 valve bodies only, not the later Gen 2 casting.

These valve bodies do not fail from a bad solenoid nearly as often as the parts cannon suggests. They fail because the aluminum bores wear and the circuits leak. Once main line, TCC apply and the clutch apply control circuits bleed pressure past worn valves, you get the complaints these trucks are known for: converter shudder that feels like a rough road, harsh or flared shifts, and clutches that cook because they never got full apply pressure. The Zip valves in this kit reseal those circuits so the pressure gets where it belongs.

Everything in the kit drops in. There is no reaming, no line boring, and no special tooling — you install it with the valve body on the bench during a rebuild, a solenoid job, or a shudder diagnosis.
