13-piece driver set sized for the case, pump and shell bushings in GM 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E rebuilds. Drives worn bushings out and new ones in square.
This is a 13-piece master bushing driver set cut to the bushing sizes used in the GM 700R4 family: 700R4, 4L60, 4L60E and 4L65E. It follows the layout of the Kent-Moore / SPX T-0220-700R4 set, so if you have worked from a GM or ATSG manual that calls for T-0220 drivers, the pieces line up with the procedure.
On the bench, you pick the stepped driver that matches the bushing bore, seat the pilot in the bushing, and drive the old one out. Flip to the installer side to press the new bushing in to depth without mushrooming the edge or cocking it in the bore. Knurled handles give you a grip when your hands are covered in ATF.
Worn bushings are behind a lot of 4L60E complaints that get blamed on clutches: lost lube and apply pressure through the pump stator and case bushings, sun shell and output bushing wear, and the burned 3-4 pack that follows. Any time a 4L60E is apart for overhaul, the bushings should be checked for clearance and replaced if they are scored or out of spec, and this set is how you do it without damaging the new ones.
Steel drivers, stored in a fitted case. Also works on the 700R4 and 4L65E.
