4L60E Rebuild Kit with Frictions, Steels and Band, 1997-2003

This rebuild kit is sized for the 1997-2003 GM 4L60E. In the box you get friction plates and steel plates, a 2-4 band, a transmission filter, the pan gasket, oil seals, gaskets and O-rings. That covers the wear items that fail in a high-mileage 4L60E, so one kit takes a slipping unit back to a sound rebuild.

Fitment covers 1999-2003 Silverado and Sierra 1500, 1997-2003 Tahoe, Suburban 1500, Blazer, S10, Jimmy, Sonoma, Astro, Safari, Express and Savana 1500, 2002-2003 Trailblazer and Envoy, 1999-2003 Escalade, 2002-2003 Escalade EXT, 2003 Escalade ESV, and the 1997-2002 Camaro and Firebird. The 4L65E and 4L70E share the same clutch and band layout, but always check the pack count and year against your own unit before ordering.

The usual reason to buy this is a 3-4 clutch burn-up (flare or no fourth gear), a slipping 2-4 band (flare on the 1-2 or 2-3 shift), or a forward clutch that lets the truck sit in gear without pulling. Soak the new frictions before assembly, check clearance on each clutch pack, and replace the filter so old friction material in the pan does not come straight back into the new unit. Pistons, drums, the sun shell and bushings are not included, so inspect those while the case is empty.
