Replaces the 4L60E pump rotor, slide and vanes with a 13-vane heavy-duty set so line pressure holds up at high RPM and under load.
This is the heavy-duty 13-vane pump rotor kit for the GM 4L60E pump. It replaces the rotor, rotor guide, slide, vanes and vane rings inside the pump body, so the pump makes and holds line pressure the way it did new instead of bleeding off through worn parts.
The 4L60E pump slide and rotor pocket wear from the moment the trans starts making pressure. As the vanes and the slide bore wear, volume drops off, and that shows up as low line pressure at idle, pressure that falls away at higher RPM, slow or flaring shifts once the fluid is hot, and converter clutch shudder. Rebuilders see it most on high-mile 4L60E units and on trucks that have towed. Dropping fresh frictions into a rebuild behind a tired pump is how you burn a new clutch pack in a few thousand miles.
On the bench, split the pump halves, pull the old slide, rotor guide, rotor and vanes, clean the pump body and check the slide bore and the pump pocket for scoring. Set the new slide with its seal and the slide spring, drop in the rotor guide and the 13-vane rotor, load the 13 vanes, then fit the two hardened vane rings on either side of the rotor. Check rotor-to-body clearance before you torque the pump halves back together, and use the supplied O-ring on the pump body. Rotor thickness on this kit is .7060 to .7065 in.
Fits the GM 200-4R, 700R4 / 4L60, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E, 4L40E, 5L40E and 5L50E pumps that use the 13-vane rotor, 1981 and up. It is a direct-replacement upgrade for compatible pump assemblies, no machining. Verify your pump uses the 13-vane rotor before ordering, since some early units ran a 10-vane rotor.
