4L60E Master Rebuild Kit with Frictions and Steels 1994-Up

This is a full master kit for a 4L60E teardown, not just a gasket and seal overhaul kit. It has the soft parts plus a full set of friction plates and steel plates, so the clutch packs get new frictions and new steels in the same job. Also in the box: four valve body separator plate gaskets, the cork pan gasket, the front pump and rear extension seals, the piston lip seals, the sealing rings and a bag of small O-rings for the case and valve body.

It is listed for the 1994-up 4L60E and the 4L65E (RPO M30 and M32). Typical trucks and SUVs with this transmission: 1995-2005 Astro and Blazer, 1995-2008 Suburban 1500, 2002-2009 TrailBlazer and Envoy, 2004-2007 Rainier, and 2004-2012 Colorado and Canyon. The seller's own fitment chart includes some entries that did not use a 4L60E, so check the ID tag on the right side of the case before you order, not just the year and model of the truck.

When to use it: a 4L60E that slips into 3rd or 4th, flares on the 2-3 shift, has no reverse, or came apart with burnt frictions in the pan. On most of these the 3-4 pack and the 2-4 band are the first to go. Once the case is apart, doing every pack with new frictions and steels costs far less than a second teardown later.

Bench notes: soak the new frictions in clean Dexron VI for at least 20 minutes before you stack them. Measure the 3-4 pack clearance and the forward pack clearance with a feeler gauge and use the correct selective plate. Use the correct valve body gasket for your year. The kit ships with more than one, so match each one hole for hole against your old gasket. Hard parts (band, bushings, bonded pistons, sprags, filter) are not included in this kit.
