Complete overhaul kit for the 2004-up GM 4L60E and 4L65E: frictions, steels, bonded pistons, full gasket and seal set, plus the pan filter.
This is the full teardown kit for a 4L60E or 4L65E that is slipping, flaring on the 1-2, or has already burned a clutch pack. It covers the late-style 2004-and-up case (13-vane pump, 300mm input, bonded pistons) and carries the frictions, steel plates, the complete gasket and rubber seal set, sealing rings, and the pan filter so the unit goes back together with every soft part new instead of half new and half reused.
Confirmed fitment runs 2004-2006 Escalade 5.3/6.0L, 2007-2008 Avalanche 5.3/6.0L, 2004-2010 Colorado 2.8/2.9/3.5/3.7L, 2004-2005 Corvette 5.7/6.0L, 2004-2010 Silverado 1500 4.3/4.8/5.3/6.0/6.2L, 2004-2010 Tahoe and Yukon 4.8/5.3/6.0/6.2L, 2004-2010 Savana 1500 4.3/5.3L, and 2004-2007 Sierra 1500. It also covers the 4L70E and 4L75E variants of the same case. OE reference: 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E, 4L60-E, 4L65-E, 4L70-E.
On the bench, the usual order is pump and drum seals first, then the 3-4 clutch pack, then the forward and overrun packs, with the new bonded pistons going in before the case halves close up. Air-check every circuit through the case passages before the valve body goes back on, and set clutch clearance with a dial indicator rather than by feel. The pan filter and pan gasket in the kit go on last, and the unit should be filled dry-fill first, then topped off hot on the dipstick.
The failure this kit actually solves is the classic 4L60E 3-4 clutch burn: the pack cooks, the fluid turns dark, third gear starts slipping under throttle, and then reverse goes away as the debris works through the unit. Replacing the whole soft-part set at once is the only way that repair holds, because a kit-level rebuild removes the burned material and the hardened seals that caused the pressure loss in the first place.
