6L80 Transmission Bushing Driver Installer Set 9pc

Seven hardened mandrels and two driver handles sized for the bushings in the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed, 2006 and up. It replaces the 104BDMK driver set. The mandrels are solid steel, heat treated and black oxide finished so they hold their shoulder under press load instead of mushrooming the first time you lean on them.

Bushings in these units are the quiet killer. A worn stator support bushing or a worn drum bushing lets the shaft walk, the seal rings lose their bore, and line pressure bleeds off in the circuits they feed. You get a converter clutch shudder, low pressure codes, or a burned pack that looks like a clutch problem and is not. Driving new bushings in with a socket and a hammer is how the bore gets scored and the new bushing goes in cocked, which puts you right back where you started.

On the bench each mandrel indexes on the bore and carries the load on the bushing's face, so the bushing enters straight and stops at the correct depth. Use a shop press where you can, a dead blow and a handle where the housing will not sit square in the press. Support the housing on the machined face, not on a gasket surface. Bushings are not included in the set; buy the bushing kit for your build and use these to install it.
