Reseals a Ford 6R80 during an overhaul with the gaskets, seals and Teflon rings that cause leaks, low line pressure and slipping.
This is a full reseal package for the Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic. It carries the gaskets, lip seals, O-rings, and Teflon sealing rings that go hard and shrink after 100,000 miles of heat cycling, which is what most 6R80 units actually need before anything else gets replaced. If the unit is coming apart on the bench, this is the kit that goes back in with it.
Fitment covers Ford Explorer 4.6L (2005-2010), Expedition 3.5L/5.0L/5.4L (2009-2014), F-150 3.5L/4.6L/5.0L/5.4L/6.2L (2009-2014), Mustang 3.7L/5.0L (2010-2014), Ranger 2.2L/2.5L/3.0L/3.2L (2010-2014), Transit 3.2L/3.5L/3.7L (2014), Everest 2.4L/3.0L/3.2L (2011-2014), Lincoln Navigator 5.0L/5.4L (2009-2014), and Mazda BT-50 (2012-2014).
Two failures send most of these units to the bench. The first is a slow drop in line pressure: fluid level keeps falling, engagement into drive gets lazy, and the unit starts slipping under load because the drum sealing rings are no longer holding apply pressure. The second is a shudder at converter lockup or a hard 1-2 shift that people chase with solenoids and a new valve body when the real cause is a hardened ring letting pressure bleed past.
On the bench, work through the teardown in order: pull the pan and filter, split the case, and replace every ring on the input drum, output shaft, and pump as each assembly comes apart, rather than trying to sort them at reassembly. The Teflon rings go on with a ring sizer or they will not clear the bore. Set the pump gasket dry, check drum clearance before the case goes back together, and refill with Motorcraft MERCON LV only.
