Locks the shift forks in neutral and lines up the valve body on GM 6T30, 6T40, 6T45 and 6T50 transmissions so the unit shifts right after reassembly.
This is an equivalent of the GM DT-50944 valve body locating tool for the GF6 family of 6-speed front-drive automatics: 6T30, 6T35, 6T40, 6T45 and 6T50. The kit is one main positioning plate, two long guide sleeves, two short guide sleeves and six set screws, all steel.
On these units the valve body has to go back on with the internal shift mechanism held in its factory neutral position. Bolt the valve body down with anything out of place and you get delayed or harsh engagement, a missing gear, or a no-move condition on the first drive. The plate holds the fork position and the sleeves guide the valve body straight down onto its locating points while the bolts are run in.
Common vehicles with these transmissions include the Chevy Cruze, Malibu, Equinox, Trax, Sonic and Impala, Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Encore and Verano, GMC Terrain and Cadillac ATS and XTS. It does not fit the 6T70/6T75, the 8-speed or 10-speed units, or any DCT or CVT.
