6L80 6L90 Torque Converter Bell Housing 24248031

This is the front torque converter housing, also called the bellhousing, for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed automatics used behind V8 engines from 2006 up. It replaces GM part number 24248031 (manufacturer reference 829-043) and is the casting that bolts to the back of the block, houses the front pump, and covers the torque converter.

On a 6L80 or 6L90 rebuild you go to this part when the original housing is cracked at the bolt bosses, has a scored or worn pump pocket, stripped bolt holes, or damage from a converter that came loose. The pump rotor and slide seat directly into the machined pocket in this housing, so the bore and depth have to hold GM spec or you will get pump whine and low line pressure. It installs as a direct replacement with no machining or modification needed.

Fits 6L80 and 6L90 V8 applications 2006 and newer, including Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade with the 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L. Confirm your existing housing carries casting 24248031 before ordering, since the smaller 6L45 and 6L50 use a different case.
