Idemitsu is the fluid supplier that fills Nissan CVTs on the factory line, so this Type N is the same NS-2 fluid that comes in the blue Nissan NS-2 bottle (OE 999MP-NS200P), just under Idemitsu’s own label at a lower cost per quart. NS-2 is the earlier friction-modified Nissan CVT fluid, and it is not interchangeable with the newer NS-3 — running the wrong one causes shudder and can cook a belt-and-pulley unit. A CVT has no torque-converter drain and no full-flush procedure like a geared automatic, so a proper service is a drain-and-fill you repeat two or three times to exchange most of the old fluid. Drop or drain the pan, change the internal strainer and the external cooler filter, refill through the charge pipe or dipstick tube, then set level inside the temperature window Nissan specifies off the hot marks. The anti-shudder friction control is what keeps the pulleys from juddering under load; fresh NS-2 restores the frictional properties that fade as the fluid ages and oxidizes, and is the cheapest insurance against a very expensive CVT replacement.
