Transmission Fluid Quality Tester ATF/CVT/MTF Analyzer

This is a go/no-go fluid condition checker, not a scan tool. You feed the 80cm probe down the fill tube or dipstick port, draw fluid into the sensor tip, and the 2.8-inch backlit screen reads how much light passes through it. Clean transmission fluid is translucent, so it lets light through; as the fluid oxidizes, picks up clutch material, and carries burnt varnish, it darkens and blocks light. The tester turns that into a plain reading instead of you holding a drip on a paper towel and guessing.

The screen shows one of three states off the transmittance. Between 100 and 50 percent it reads OK, so the fluid is still serviceable. Between 50 and 30 percent it flags a warning, meaning the fluid is aging and you should plan a service. Below 30 percent it reads a fail, which is the darkened, burnt fluid you find in a unit that has run hot or is overdue by tens of thousands of miles. A built-in temperature sensor reads the fluid temp at the same time, which matters because you want to judge a hot unit and because sealed units get filled in a set temperature window.

It works across fluid types, so the same probe handles automatic transmission fluid (ATF), continuously variable fluid (CVTF), and manual gear oil (MTF), and it does not care about the specific brand or spec of the fluid since it is reading clarity, not chemistry. It is useful as a quick intake check on a customer car, a way to justify a flush versus a drain-and-fill, and a spot check on a used vehicle before you buy it. It runs on batteries and shuts off after five minutes if you walk away. Treat it as a screening tool that tells you when fluid is bad, not a lab analysis of additive life.
