Honda Civic CVT Transmission Oil Pan Kit 21151-R3W-000

This is a complete oil pan service kit for the CVT in the 2014-2015 Honda Civic 1.8L and the 2016-2019 Civic 1.5L turbo and 2.0L. The kit includes a cast aluminum pan (replaces 21151-R3W-000), the internal strainer (replaces 25420-5T0-003), the external CVT filter (replaces 25450-P4V-013), two pan gaskets (replace 21814-5T0-000), a magnetic drain plug and 17 pan bolts.

People buy this for two reasons. The first is a pan that is leaking, cracked or dented from a curb, a parking block or road debris. The second is a proper CVT service. A drain and fill only swaps part of the fluid and never touches the strainer, so a Civic CVT that has started to shudder, whine or feel slow to pick up after a lot of miles on original fluid is a good candidate for dropping the pan, cleaning out the sludge and fitting a new strainer and external filter.

To install, drain the fluid, remove the pan bolts and drop the pan. Look at the magnet and the bottom of the old pan. Fine gray paste is normal wear, but chunks or bright metal flakes mean internal damage that a service will not fix. Replace the strainer, clean the sealing surface, and fit the new pan with a new gasket, snugging the bolts in a crisscross pattern to the factory torque. Change the external filter, then refill with Honda HCF-2 fluid and check the level at operating temperature with the procedure for your model year.
