Honda Civic 1.5T CVT Transmission Oil Cooler Kit 244003

This is an add-on transmission oil cooler kit for the 10th-generation Honda Civic with the 1.5L turbo engine and CVT, built to the 244003 kit layout. It includes a tube-and-fin cooler core, a thermostatic bypass block, two lengths of cooler hose with clamps, mounting brackets, pass-through mounting ties, and the bolts, washers and pads to hang it.

Why a Civic CVT needs it: the belt-and-pulley CVT in the 1.5T Civic runs hot under load. Heat breaks down CVT fluid, and cooked fluid is what leads to belt slip, shudder on light acceleration and a hesitation on takeoff. Keeping fluid temperature down is the cheapest insurance a CVT owner can buy, especially on cars that see stop-and-go traffic, hills, or spirited driving.

How it goes in: the thermostatic block routes fluid through the cooler only once it is up to operating temperature, so the CVT still warms up normally in cold weather. Mount the core ahead of the radiator where it gets clean airflow, run the hoses from the block to the core, clamp every connection, then top off with Honda HCF-2 CVT fluid and check the level hot with the car running.
