Beefed-up replacement for the thin OEM band strut that bends and kills the band under high line pressure.
The factory kickdown band strut and anchor in the Chrysler and Dodge A518, A618, 47RE, and 48RE transmissions are a known weak point. The stock strut is thin stamped steel, and once you turn the line pressure up on a Cummins that flimsy strut starts to bend. When it bows, the band can no longer apply the way it should, and you end up chasing a slipping band or a burnt overdrive that traces right back to a five-dollar part.
This kit replaces both pieces with heavy-duty stainless. The 22717HD strut is roughly twice as thick as the OEM part (about .240 inch versus .120 inch), heat treated and zinc plated so it holds its shape under the higher apply force built trucks run. The PW518AC anchor is machined to take that same load without spreading. Together they give you accurate, repeatable band adjustment and take a common failure point off the table before you button the pan back up.
Fits A518, A618, 47RE, 48RE, and A727. Straightforward install with the pan and valve body off. Ships from the USA.
