OTC 7937 GM 4L60E/4L80E Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool

GM uses a captured spring C-clip on the 1/2 inch transmission cooler line fittings at the radiator and at the transmission case. To pull the line you have to spread that clip, and the usual method is fishing behind the fitting with a pick until the clip pops free and drops somewhere you will never find it. This is the tool GM dealer techs reach for instead: you snap it over the line with the slots facing the fitting, squeeze, push it into the connector, and give it a quarter turn to spread the clip and release the line. The clip stays in the fitting, so the new line just snaps back in.

It is built for GM 2WD and 4WD trucks and vans running the 4L60E (1993-2012) or the 4L80E (1991-2013), and it works on many other front- and rear-drive GM units as long as you have about 1-1/4 inch of straight tube between the fitting and the first bend in the line. Common jobs are replacing a corroded or leaking cooler line, or getting the lines off to swap a radiator. On the tight fittings tucked up in the transmission tunnel you may still finish with a pick, but on the accessible connections at the radiator and cooler it does the whole job in a couple of minutes.
