Replaces the ZF 8HP70 pan with its bonded-in filter, gasket and bolts, the only way to service the filter on BMW 8-speed automatics.
This is the complete oil pan and filter service kit for the ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic. The filter element is bonded into the pan itself, the way ZF designed it, so a fluid service on this transmission means replacing the whole pan assembly rather than dropping a separate filter. The kit arrives with the pan, integrated filter, molded pan gasket and the mounting bolts, so nothing else has to be ordered to finish the job.
Cross-references BMW OE part number 24117624192 and aftermarket number 265-853, TRQ part TFA92768. Fitment covers a wide run of 8HP70-equipped BMWs including 320i, 328i, 328d, 330i, 335i and 340i (2012-2018), 228i and 230i (2014-2018), 428i and 430i (2014-2018), plus X3, X5 and X6 models, and it also covers 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2012-2013 Chrysler 300 and 2017-2018 Jaguar XE applications running the same case. Confirm your build against the fitment list before ordering, since some model years used the 8HP45 or 8HP90 pan instead.
On the bench or on a lift, the job is straightforward: get the transmission to temperature, pull the fill plug, drop the old pan, let it drain, clean the sealing face on the case, then set the new pan with its gasket and run the bolts down in a criss-cross pattern. The gasket is molded to the pan lip and does not need sealer. Refill through the fill port with the correct ZF Lifeguard 8 spec fluid until it weeps at the check temperature.
The failure this kit solves is a clogged filter starving the pump. On high-mileage 8HP70s that shows up as delayed engagement when cold, a shudder or flare on the 2-3 shift, or a stored pressure-control fault. A pan with a fresh filter and a clean magnet is the first thing to change before anyone starts talking about a mechatronic unit.
