4L60E Aluminum Transmission Pan Filter and Gasket Kit

This is a complete 4L60E service package: a cast aluminum oil pan with a magnetic drain plug, plus the transmission filter and pan gasket, so one box covers the whole job. The pan replaces GM part numbers 265-811, 24229658, 24240207, 24215535, 24209295 and 103164, and the filter and gasket replace 24208813 and 24208576.

Fitment covers GM units in the 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E family: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2500, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, Blazer, Colorado and Express 1500/2500 from roughly 1998 through 2013, plus GMC Sierra 1500/2500, Yukon, Envoy, Jimmy, Sonoma, Canyon, Safari and Savana from 1998 through 2011. Fitment on these trucks depends on which transmission is actually in the vehicle, so pull your RPO code or compare your old pan to the 265-811 shape before you order.

Two things make this worth doing over a plain filter change. First, the factory stamped steel pan on these trucks has no drain plug, so every fluid service means dropping a full pan of ATF over your arms; the drain plug here lets you empty it first, and the magnet in the plug catches the steel fuzz that clutch and band wear puts in the fluid, where you can actually see it. Second, a steel pan that has been dinged by road debris, rusted around the rail on a salted truck, or warped by someone torquing the bolts down to stop a leak will never seal again no matter how many gaskets you stack on it. The thicker cast rail on this pan stays flat against the case.

On the lift: drain or drop the old pan, pull the old filter straight down off the pump pickup and remove the filter seal from the case bore, scrape the case rail clean of old gasket, push the new filter in by hand until the seal seats, lay the gasket on the new pan dry, and start every bolt by hand before torquing them in a crossing pattern to roughly 97 in-lbs. Do not run these bolts up with an impact - that is what bends rails. Refill through the dipstick tube and check the level hot, in park, with the engine running.
