4L60E Clutch Spring Compressor and Teflon Seal Tool Set

This set covers the four special tools a GM 4L60E overhaul keeps asking for. The T-0158 universal clutch drum spring compressor pushes the return springs down in drums up to 6 inches so you can pull and reinstall the snap ring without bending the spring retainer. The T-0151 rear clutch spring compressor engages the low/reverse piston return spring in the case so you can reach its snap ring and pull the piston, a job that is miserable with screwdrivers and a C-clamp.

The other two are Teflon seal installer and resizer kits. The J-36418-C does the turbine shaft sealing rings and the ST-1503 does the stator shaft rings. Solid Teflon rings go on stretched, so after installing you slide the resizer sleeve over them to shrink them back to size. Skip that step and the rings get cut or rolled when the pump or drum goes on, and you end up with low line pressure to the clutch it feeds.

Listed fitment is GM 700R4, 4L60, 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E. The T-0151 compressor also works on the older THM 250, 250C, 350 and 350C.
