4L60E Rebuild Kit with Clutch Pack, Band and Filter

This is the five-piece REMCO overhaul kit for the early TH700-R4 / 4L60 / 4L60E family, covering 1982 through 1993 units. It carries the parts you actually consume on a teardown: the overhaul gasket and seal set, a high-friction clutch pack, a red two-tang flex band, a babbitt pump bushing, and the filter. Manufacturer part number RK700R4, shipped weight about 5.7 lb.

Note what is and is not in the box. Steel separator plates are NOT included, so if your steels are blued, coned, or scored you will need to buy them separately. Everything else needed to seal the case and put fresh friction material in it is here. The kit ships with a printed inventory sheet so you can count the pieces against the list before you start the job.

On the bench this is the kit you open first. Pull the pan, drop the valve body, and stage the gasket set by where each piece goes - pump, case, servo cover, and accumulator. The flex band goes in with the anchor lug seated before you set the reverse input drum, and the pump bushing is driven in from the front with the pump halves separated. Replacing the band and the forward clutch frictions at the same time is what cures the slipping 2nd and the delayed, mushy 1-2 shift that these units develop after high mileage.

Fitment is by transmission code, not just the vehicle. Confirm the unit is stamped TH700, 4L60, 4L60E, or 4L65E and that the build year falls in the 1982-1993 range before ordering. Pan depth and clutch count vary across this range, so count your existing frictions when the unit is apart.
