4L60E Shift Solenoid Kit, 5-Piece EPC and TCC 1996-2002

This kit covers every electrical solenoid bolted to a 1996-2002 4L60E valve body: the A (1-2) and B (2-3) shift solenoids, the 3-2 downshift solenoid, the EPC pressure control solenoid, and the TCC PWM solenoid. It is listed for the 4L60E and early 4L65E in Chevrolet and GMC trucks and vans, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, Astro and Safari, Camaro and Firebird, Escalade, and 1996 Roadmaster, Caprice and Fleetwood.

On a high-mileage unit the solenoids tend to fail as a group. A dead shift solenoid sets P0753 or P0758 and leaves the truck starting in second or stuck in a single gear; a worn EPC solenoid causes soft, slipping shifts or harsh engagements and P0748; a TCC PWM solenoid that sticks gives shudder at 40-50 mph or no lockup. If you are already in the pan for one code, replacing all five at once saves a second teardown.

To install: drain and drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness from each solenoid, and pull the retaining clips or bolts. Transfer nothing from the old parts, lube the new O-rings with ATF, seat each solenoid fully so the O-ring is not rolled, and torque the EPC bracket bolt to spec. Clear codes and road test through all shifts. These are 1996-2002 pattern solenoids; 2003-up units use a different EPC and harness, so confirm your build year before ordering.
