Seven-piece new solenoid set for 2004-up GM 4L80E and 4L85E: TCC/PWM, EPC, both shift solenoids, internal harness, filter and pan gasket.
A complete 2004-up solenoid service for the GM 4L80E and 4L85E, RPO codes MT1 and MN8. Seven pieces: the TCC/PWM lock-up solenoid 24210864, the EPC pressure control solenoid 24248892, the 1-2 and 3-4 A shift solenoid 24230288, the 2-3 B shift solenoid 24230289, the internal wiring harness 24200161, the fluid filter with seal 24210956, and the pan gasket 8677743. Everything that comes out when you drop the pan on this job goes back in new.
Know which harness you need before ordering. GM changed the 4L80E internal wiring and connector layout partway through the run, and the 2004-up harness in this kit will not plug into an earlier unit. Check the RPO tag and the case connector first - a 1991-2003 truck needs the earlier kit.
The failures this kit addresses are the ones that bring a 4L80E in. A worn EPC solenoid lets line pressure fall off, which shows up as slipping clutches, flared shifts and overheated fluid, and it is the single most common cause of a burned 4L80E. A failing TCC/PWM solenoid gives converter shudder at highway speed, RPM that will not settle, and P0741 or P1870. Sticking shift solenoids produce wrong-gear starts, no 1-2 or no 3-4, or a default to third-gear limp. A chafed internal harness does all of the above intermittently.
These are new parts, not salvage pulls. Do the whole set at once while the pan is off - the labor is identical, and putting an old solenoid back in next to a new one is how you end up in there twice. Have fresh Dexron VI and a torque wrench ready for the pan bolts.
