Overhaul gaskets, seals, friction plates and steels for a full bench rebuild of the Ford 4R70W, 4R75E and 4R75W four-speed automatic.
Complete master overhaul package for the Ford 4R70W four-speed automatic: the full gasket and seal overhaul kit, the friction clutch plate set, and the matching steel plate set in one box. It is the parts list for a bench rebuild, not a reseal - if the unit is coming apart on the stand, this covers the wear items you replace while it is open.
Fitment is the 4R70W and its later 4R75E and 4R75W variants behind Ford F-150 and F-250 applications roughly 1998 through 2003. The 4R70W is the wide-ratio evolution of the AODE and shows up under a lot of Windsor-powered trucks, Panther-platform cars and Explorers, so verify the tag on the case before you order - Ford ran several friction counts and drum changes across the family.
What it fixes: the 4R70W typically comes in slipping in overdrive or burning the forward clutch, and by the time it is on the bench the frictions are glazed, the steels are heat-blued and the case and pump gaskets are hard. Replacing all three sets together is what keeps the clutch pack clearance right - mixing new frictions with old steels leaves you chasing clearance and heat. Set your clutch pack clearances with a depth micrometer as you stack each drum, air-check every circuit before the valve body goes back on, and soak the new frictions in ATF before assembly.
Kit contents cover the overhaul gaskets and rubber seals, molded pistons and sealing rings, thrust washers, the friction plate set and the steel plate set. Hard parts, the pump, the valve body and the torque converter are not included.
