68RFE Shift Solenoid Block Pack, Gray Connector 2010-2018

This is a remanufactured shift solenoid block pack (the solenoid and pressure transducer assembly) for Chrysler RFE transmissions that use the gray case connector. The gray plug marks the 2010-2018 design. It fits the 68RFE in 2500 and 3500 Ram Cummins trucks and Ram 4500/5500 chassis cabs. It also fits the 545RFE and 45RFE in Ram 1500, Durango, Grand Cherokee and Aspen. It is not the same part as the earlier black-connector block. Look at the plug on your transmission before you order.

A failing solenoid pack is one of the most common causes of RFE limp mode. The truck starts in second gear and will not upshift, and it often sets solenoid circuit or line pressure codes such as P0750-P0770, P0841, P0846, P0869 or P0944. You may also get harsh or flared shifts, a late 1-2, or the transmission bouncing between gears as the pressure sensor reading drops out. The solenoids and the line pressure transducer are all inside this one block, so if the codes point at it, you replace the whole pack.

The pack is on the valve body, under the transmission pan. Drain the pan, pull the filter and unplug the internal connector. Then remove the solenoid pack screws and lift it off, leaving the valve body in place. Clean the valve body mating surface, set the new pack on it and torque the screws evenly. Refill with ATF+4. Clear the codes and run the quick learn procedure with a scan tool so the TCM relearns clutch volumes on the new pack.
