Master overhaul kit with frictions, steels, seals, gaskets and filter for the GM 6L80E and 6L90E six-speed in Silverado, Tahoe, Camaro and Corvette.
This is a master rebuild kit for the GM 6L80E six-speed automatic, and it also fits the heavier 6L90E. It carries the friction and steel clutch plates, the sealing and gasket set, and a new filter. It cross-references to GM 24236931 and 34664P.
Listed fitment includes Silverado and Sierra 1500/2500/3500, Tahoe, Yukon and Yukon XL, Escalade, Express and Savana vans, Hummer H2 and SUT 2006-2010, CTS 2007-2015 and CTS-V 2008-2015, Camaro SS 2011-2015, Corvette 2006-2018, Pontiac G8 2007-2010, and Silverado 2500 6.0L and 6.6L through 2022. Confirm your unit by the RPO code (MYC for 6L80, MYD for 6L90) on the glovebox or door sticker.
The common 6L80 failures are a slipping or burned 3-5-R clutch, a hard 1-2 or harsh downshift from worn frictions, and torque converter shudder that often comes along with contaminated fluid. Loss of 3rd, 5th and reverse together points straight at the 3-5-R pack. Once the frictions are gone, debris loads the filter and the valve body, so budget time to clean and inspect the valve body and TEHCM while the unit is apart.
Soak the new frictions in DEXRON VI before assembly, check clutch clearances against spec on each pack, and replace the sealing rings on the input shaft rather than reusing them. After the install, run the transmission adapt relearn with a scan tool so shift quality settles in.
