Five bonded clutch pistons for the GM 6L80E and 6L90, 2006-up: the 1-2-3-4, 4-5-6, 2-6, and low/reverse pistons plus the 4-5-6 retainer.
When a GM 6L80E or 6L90 comes apart on the bench, the bonded clutch pistons are one of the first things you inspect. These are rubber-bonded-to-steel pistons, not lip-seal pistons, and over miles the bonded rubber hardens, cracks, and tears away from the steel. Once that happens the clutch loses apply pressure and you get slip, flare on the 2-3 and 4-5 shifts, or a P0776 / P0871 pressure code that no amount of solenoid work will fix. Replacing all of them during an overhaul is the only way to guarantee clean apply on a rebuilt unit.
This five-piece set covers the pistons a full 6L80E/6L90 rebuild needs: the 1-2-3-4 clutch piston retainer (OE# 24224708), the 4-5-6 clutch piston (OE# 24232416) with its retainer, the 2-6 clutch piston (OE# 24224169), and the low/reverse clutch piston (OE# 24224178). Each piece interchanges with the factory GM part it replaces, so it drops into the OE drums and housings without machining.
Fits the 6L80, 6L80E, 6L90, and 6L90E six-speed automatics from 2006 up, behind the LS and LT V8s and Vortec sixes in Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Escalade, Camaro, Corvette, and the SS. Install with fresh clutch apply seals and rings, lube with assembly gel, and set clutch clearance to the GM spec drum by drum as you stack.
