6L80E Transmission Master Rebuild Kit with Filter

Master rebuild kit for the GM 6L80E six-speed automatic, and it covers the 6L90E as well. In the box you get the complete friction plate set, the matching steel plate set, the internal filter and pan gasket, and the full gasket, lip seal, O-ring and Teflon sealing-ring package needed to close the unit back up. Reference OE numbers on the kit: 24236931, 34664P, 195940, 135710D, 515709 and 195901XLS.

Fitment is broad across the GM truck and van line. Chevrolet: Avalanche 2008-2013, Camaro 2009-2015, Corvette 2006-2018, Tahoe 2008-2020, Suburban 1500 2008-2020, Suburban 2500 2008-2013, Suburban 3500 2016-2019, Silverado 1500 2008-2022, Silverado 2500 and 2500HD 2007-2022, Silverado 3500HD 2007-2022, Express 1500/2500/3500 2009-2021 and Express 4500 2010-2019. The 6L80E failures that land these on the bench are the 3-5-R and the 1-2-3-4 clutch packs. Both share apply circuits, so when one burns the debris goes everywhere - through the valve body, into the cooler, and into the pressure control solenoids. If the fluid came out black, flush the cooler and cooler lines before the rebuilt unit goes back in, or the new frictions will be contaminated within a few hundred miles.

On the bench: this is a hydraulically demanding unit, so air-check every circuit before reassembly and replace all the Teflon sealing rings, not just the obviously worn ones. Check the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R piston housings for cracks while the unit is apart, and inspect the pump for scoring. Soak the frictions in Dexron VI for 20 minutes before assembly and set clutch pack clearance with a selective. This kit is soft parts and clutches only - a wave plate, piston housing or solenoid body is not included.
