Rebuild kit for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed, covering 2007-2016 applications. It supersedes OE and aftermarket numbers 195901XLS, 195903XLS, 24236931, 34664P, 195940, 135710D and 515709. In the box: the friction plates, the steel plates, the full gasket and seal set with O-rings, and the pan filter.
The 6L80 is a strong unit that dies from two things: fluid that was never changed, and the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-reverse clutch packs cooking after the wave plate flattens. Once the frictions glaze, you get a 3-5 flare, a shudder that people mistake for the converter, and P0776 or P0870 pressure codes. Fresh frictions and steels with new sealing rings put the apply circuits back where the factory had them, which is the whole point of the overhaul.
Fitment covers 2009-2013 Avalanche, 2010-2015 Camaro, 2012-2013 Caprice, 2007-2015 CTS, 2007-2017 Escalade, 2007-2009 STS, 2006-2009 XLR and 2007-2016 Yukon, plus Express 1500 through 4500 vans. Verify the transmission ID tag before ordering, because the 6L80 and 6L90 share a family but not every clutch count.
This is a soft-parts overhaul kit. It does not include the torque converter, the valve body, the pump, or hard parts. If the unit came in with metal in the pan or a burned 3-5 pack, plan on inspecting the drum and the wave plate before you close it up, since new frictions in a scored drum will not last a season.
