Cast aluminum deep sump pan that adds about two quarts of fluid to the Ford 6R140 TorqShift in 2011-2019 F-250 to F-550 6.7L Super Duty trucks.
This is a cast aluminum deep sump pan for the Ford 6R140 TorqShift, the six-speed automatic behind the 6.7L Power Stroke in 2011-2019 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks. It replaces the stamped factory pan and interchanges with Ford BC3Z-7A098-B and BC3Z7A194C, and with the Dorman 265-830 / 328052010 aftermarket pans. Finish is brushed silver.
The reason to run one is fluid volume and heat. The 6R140 gets worked hard in a truck that tows, and the stock shallow pan holds a fixed amount of Mercon LV with the cooler circuit sitting close to the sump. A deep pan adds roughly two quarts of capacity below the factory pan rail, which gives the fluid more time out of the converter to shed heat before it is picked up again. More volume also means the pickup stays covered on grades and hard launches instead of momentarily sucking air. Aluminum sheds heat faster than the stamped steel pan and it will not oil can under torque like a thin stamping can.
It carries a magnetic drain plug, so the routine service is drain, pull the plug, wipe the clutch and bearing fuzz off the magnet, and re-fill. That alone is worth the swap on a truck that has only ever been dropped and dumped. The pan takes the stock 6R140 filter and gasket, so plan on a filter and a fresh gasket at install and torque the pan bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the Ford spec rather than running them down with an impact.
Note that a deep pan changes fill volume: check level hot on the factory procedure at the transmission fill plug, not by the old dipstick count, and expect to add fluid over the standard service quantity.
