722.3 Transmission Master Rebuild Kit for Mercedes

Bench order is the usual: strip the unit, clean and inspect the drums and pistons, replace every rubber part in the kit, then set clutch pack clearance with the new frictions and steels before the drums go back in. The frictions are an asbestos-free material and the steels are ground flat, so a pack that measures in spec with these parts stays in spec once it heats up. The B2 band and the front and rear pump seals are the usual failure points on a high-mile 722.3 - if you are in far enough to be reading this, replace them while the case is open.

What the kit addresses: delayed or flared 2-3 shifts, slipping under load in third and fourth, burnt fluid from cooked frictions, and the front pump seal leak that puts ATF down the bellhousing. It does not include the torque converter, the valve body, or hard parts, so inspect those separately.
