GM 4L60E 4L80E Neutral Safety / Transmission Range Switch - Replaces 24229422, D2263C

The neutral safety switch - properly the park/neutral position and back-up lamp switch - bolts to the side of the transmission and reads which gear the manual valve is in. It does two important jobs: it tells the powertrain control module the gear position so the engine will only crank in Park or Neutral, and it grounds the reverse lights when you drop into Reverse. When this switch wears out you get the classic symptoms - the starter cranks in Drive (a real safety hazard), the engine refuses to start at all, the gauge cluster shows the wrong gear, or the back-up lights simply stop working.
