Complete master overhaul kit for the Mercedes 722.6 (W5A580) 5-speed automatic: frictions, steels, and a full gasket and seal set to rebuild the unit in one box.
This is a complete master rebuild kit for the Mercedes-Benz 722.6 automatic, the electronically controlled five-speed (factory designation W5A580) that Mercedes ran across the C-, E-, S-, ML- and G-Class from the mid-1990s into the early 2010s. It covers the wide 722.621 through 722.649 build range, and the same 722.6 architecture is what Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep used as the NAG1 (WA580), so this kit rebuilds those units as well.
Inside the box you get the full overhaul gasket and seal set, the friction clutch plate pack, and the matching steel plate kit (Solarhome part T14100B, which is the T14102A gasket/seal set, T141080B frictions, and T141081A steels combined). That is everything the clutch and sealing side of a 722.6 rebuild calls for in one kit, so you are not chasing individual seal numbers or waiting on a back-ordered friction pack partway through the job.
The 722.6 is a strong transmission, but the failures are predictable: worn K1/K2/K3 clutch frictions that show up as slip and flare on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts, hardened piston lip seals that bleed apply pressure, and a torn overdrive or reverse seal. Once the conductor plate and valve body are addressed, a fresh set of frictions, steels, and seals is what actually restores holding capacity and clean shifts. Replace the internal filter and refill with the correct Shell/Fuchs 236.x-spec ATF when you button it up.
Kit weighs about 15 lb shipped. Ships from the USA, handling in 1-2 business days.
