4L60E 5-Piece Transmission Solenoid Kit, 2003-Up

A complete electrical refresh for the late-model GM 4L60E and 4L65E. The kit has all five valve body solenoids: the A (1-2) and B (2-3) shift solenoids, the 3-2 downshift solenoid, the EPC pressure control solenoid, and the TCC PWM solenoid. It is built for 2003-and-later units, which used different solenoid and connector styles than the 1993-2002 transmissions, so check your year before you order.

Solenoid faults on these transmissions show up as P0751, P0756 and P0785 shift and 3-2 codes, P0741 or P0742 torque converter clutch codes, and P0748 for the EPC circuit. On the road that means no upshift, starting in second, a firm or late 1-2, a harsh or flared 3-2 kickdown, or a converter clutch that shudders or never applies.

All of them are reachable with just the pan and filter off: the shift, 3-2 and PWM solenoids come off the valve body with a clip or bolt, and the EPC is held by a retainer at the case. If one solenoid has failed from age or debris, the others have the same miles on them. Replacing all five during the job saves pulling the pan again a few months later. Test the harness, and look for metal in the pan, before calling it a solenoid problem.
