4L60E Aluminum Transmission Pan Kit with Filter and Drain Plug

An aluminum replacement pan for the GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E that ships with a pan gasket, a transmission filter and a magnetic drain plug, so one box covers a full service. It replaces GM part numbers 24240207, 24215535, 24209295 and 24229658, and the Dorman-style 265-811 steel pan.

The drain plug is the main reason to swap. The stock stamped pan has no drain, so every fluid change means dropping a full pan of hot ATF on the floor. With a plug you can drain before pulling the bolts, check what comes out, and do drain-and-fill services without removing the pan at all. The magnet catches the fine steel from clutch plates, the planetary and pump, which also gives you a read on internal wear at each change. Aluminum sheds heat better than thin steel and will not rust through or dent when a rock or jack point hits it.

Listed fitment covers most GM rear-drive applications of the 4L60E family, including Silverado and Sierra 1500 and 2500, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Avalanche, Escalade, Express and Savana vans, Astro and Safari, S10, Blazer, Jimmy, Sonoma, Colorado and Canyon, Trailblazer and Envoy, H2, SSR and GTO.

Install: drain the old pan, remove it and the filter, pull the old filter seal out of the pump bore, and clean the case flange dry. Seat the new filter, set the gasket, snug the pan bolts in a crisscross pattern and torque to spec without crushing the gasket. Refill with Dexron-type ATF and check level hot with the engine running.
