4L60E Pump Alignment and Teflon Seal Installer Tool Kit

This kit bundles four tools you need during a GM 700R4, 4L60 or 4L60E overhaul:

• T-1097 front pump alignment band. Clamps around the pump body and cover so the halves are lined up while you torque the bolts. A misaligned pump binds the gear and wears the bushing fast. Also fits the TH250, TH350, TH375, TH400, 3L80, 425, 475 and Powerglide.
• J-36418-C turbine shaft Teflon seal installer and resizer. Slides the scarf-cut seals over the input shaft and then sizes them back down so the shaft goes into the drum without cutting a seal. Replaces Kent-Moore J-36418-C and Atec T-1574.
• ST-1503 stator shaft Teflon seal installer and resizer. Does the same job for the pump stator shaft seals. Replaces T-1503 and #39SS.
• T-0151 rear clutch spring compressor. Hooks the lugs on the low/reverse piston return spring in the back of the case and compresses it so you can reach the snap ring. Fits the 700R4, 4L60, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E and TH350.

Cut or stretched Teflon rings are a common reason a freshly rebuilt 4L60E comes back with a slipping forward or 3-4 clutch, because the apply oil leaks past the ring. Sizing the seals and aligning the pump correctly avoids a second teardown.
