62TE Transmission Front Oil Pump Assembly, 05078567

Front oil pump assembly for the Chrysler 62TE six-speed front-wheel-drive automatic, replacing OE part numbers 05078567 and 04659715. The 62TE went into service in 2007 and shows up under the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Journey, Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200 and Ram C/V, behind both the 3.5 and the 3.6 Pentastar. This is the complete pump, not a rebuild kit.

The pump is what sets line pressure for the whole unit, so when it wears you feel it everywhere: delayed engagement into drive or reverse when cold, soft or slipping shifts once the fluid is hot, converter shudder, and a whine that rises with engine speed. A worn pump bushing lets the converter hub run off-center, which chews the hub and the pump seal and puts fluid on the bellhousing. If you have already replaced solenoids and the valve body and the pressure is still low at the test port, the pump is where to look next.

On the bench this goes on after the unit is out and split. Pull the old pump, inspect the converter hub for scoring before you reuse the converter, and check the stator support splines. Install with a new pump-to-case gasket and O-ring, torque the pump bolts evenly in a crossing pattern, and check input shaft end play before you close the case. Prime the unit and verify line pressure at idle and at stall before the vehicle goes back on the road.
