6L80 Master Rebuild Kit with Frictions, Gaskets and Filter

This master kit has the soft parts and frictions for a complete 6L80E or 6L90E overhaul. You get the overhaul kit (pan gaskets, valve body separator plate gaskets, metal-clad seals, o-rings and sealing rings), a full set of friction plates for the clutch packs, and a new filter. Steel plates, pistons and bushings are not included. Measure and reuse your steels if they are flat and not blued, or buy them separately.

It fits the 6L80 and 6L90 used from 2006 through 2017. That covers Silverado and Sierra 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, Express and Savana vans, Avalanche, Camaro, Corvette, CTS, STS, XLR, Pontiac G8 and Hummer H2. Cross-reference numbers for the kit include 24236931, 34664P, 195940, 135710D, 515709 and 195901XLS. Confirm your unit before you order, since 6L80 and 6L90 clutch counts differ between some model years.

The usual reason to rebuild a 6L80 is a burnt 3-5-reverse or 4-5-6 clutch pack. Symptoms are flare on the 2-3 or 3-4 shift, slipping in reverse, or codes P0751, P0776 and P0796 after the TCM has run out of adaptive range. Soak the new frictions in the ATF you will run (Dexron VI) for at least 30 minutes before assembly. Check each pack clearance with a feeler gauge, and replace every piston seal and sealing ring in the kit rather than reusing old rubber. After reassembly, reset the transmission adapts with a scan tool and do a fast learn so the TCM relearns shift pressures on the fresh clutches.
